Developing the New Players in Your Program
-Terminology Sheet: give each new player a sheet of the common terms used so they can speak the same language the rest of your program does and can be on the same page
-Individual Development: spend as much time with them as you can and work on their weakest asset of their game. Motivate them to get better.
-Video/Film: watch film with them to correct their play
-Weight Room/Diet: stress the importance of getting stronger and eating healthy
-Developing Relationships: meet with them often and get to know them personally
Developing Your Players in the Off Season
-Mix it up: don't let it get boring
-Find the Right Balance: you don't have to kill them everytime on the floor, but players should be pushed and get better each day they step foot in the gym
-Develop Each Individual Player: each player is unique, know what you want them to work on personally and plan out exactly how they are going to get it done so it is clear to everyone how they will be successful
-Use Film: watch film to show them their positive and negative aspects form previous play
Developing Your Shot in the Off Season
-Evaluating Your Shot: break down, statistically, how you are shooting the ball now so you can see if there is any true improvement
-Bad Shots or Shooting Mechanics: do not practice unrealistic shots that you would not shoot in games and do not practice bad and inconsistent form
-Shooting Workout: there are thousands of great shooting drills out there. Look some up and mix it up
