Developing Coach to Player Relationships: "The One Per Day Rule"
-A coach should make it their mission to seek a strong connection with at least one of his players per day through meaningful one-on-one conversations for at least 15 to 20 minutes
-Makes every player feel valuable and allows you to learn how you can push them to their potential
-You know what they know and what they value
-You can help these players make a vision for their future within the program and their vision of the program itself
-Can promote your own beleif system and values of the team
-Relationship becomes stronger
Developing Good Player Habits
-Stop players from wasting their dribbles; you can do this through competitive drills with limited dribble counts
-Stop players from standing and watching the ball; implement an action in your offense that whenever the ball is moved they must move, set a rule that your team can not score unless the ball is entered into the post at least two times
-Make players drive the ball with purpose; create drills giving extra points for driving the ball into the paint or the desired locationonthe court
Developing Post Play
-Get open: run the floor hard, creat contact and space in the post, push back and don't get moved off your position, screen hard and roll harder, watch your defender and learn when to take advantage of them, rebound relentlessly for second chances
-Stay open: keep that contact
-Catch Safely: catch the ball with two hands, chin it, and then check the middle ready to score
-Score Simply: Post hook, counter move, up and under, go through contact and get to the free throw line
